The X10 utilizes the same modular concept as the X5 however the X10 modules are not compatible with the X5 or X2 chassis as they gain higher physical density achieving 10 modules in a 5RU 19 inch rack mount space only 20 inches deep. It does this by overlapping the central cooling fans in the chassis. X10 modules must be fitted in pairs with one front and one rear in each installed pair. Individual modules can be replaced under power however the chassis will not meet full specifications if a paired module is not replaced within a few minutes if under power. The power consumption per module in an X10 chassis is even less than an X5 with a reduction in power consumed by over 4W per module due to the reduced number of fans.

X10 Chassis

Like the X5 the X10 has no back plane and each module has its own individual power supply unit making replacement or swap out under power a simple operation that can be accomplished in under 2 minutes without tools. The X10 is a good solution if you want low power consumption and a high density of physical server platforms in a 19 inch rack and have access to both sides. Like the X5 Chassis, the X10 is made from aircraft grade aluminum with a clear iridite finish and all stainless steel fasteners to withstand the harshest of environments whilst keeping the weight to a minimum.
